Heather Moran
Meet Heather Moran, a Case Manager at MMA. Heather is a Certified Peer Support Specialist and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern registered with the North Carolina Addiction Specialist Professional Practicing Board. She worked as a Peer Support Specialist for the Friendship Home for 2+ years and in 2023 was promoted to Case Manager for the WNC Homeless Project, which serves individuals who are homeless and struggling with substance use disorder.
Heather’s passion is supporting others who are experiencing homelessness. She will never forget the struggles she experienced when she was homeless and on the streets. She felt helpless and alone. It took a complete stranger to teach he how to STOP surviving and START living. And today, she gets to be that person for others.
Heather quotes Isaiah 43:18-19A: “Forget the former things, do not dwell in the past. See I am doing a new thing!” She says, “A life-changing moment for me was when I received the Recovery Champion Award in 2022 and understood the importance of my recovery community. I love supporting others in navigating resources and am truly blessed to be able to witness God’s work firsthand through the lives we serve. “I love my job and sometimes think I can’t believe they pay me to do this work!”
