Meet Michael: A Journey Toward Recovery

Michael had been staying at our JTC shelter when he made the life-changing decision to transition into a long-term treatment center. Struggling with substance use and severe mental health challenges, maintaining sobriety had been an uphill battle for him.

This is just one example of how our HPWNC program is changing lives. The goal of this program is to support individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and mental health challenges by helping them access treatment and vital resources.

Our staff was deeply moved as Michael made the courageous choice to enter treatment this week. He has now joined a faith-based treatment center, where he hopes to strengthen his relationship with God, which he believes is his pathway to recovery.

Michael’s story also highlights the value of having dedicated staff with lived experience—a key factor in improving positive outcomes for those we serve. His journey is a testament to the power of compassion, support, and second chances. 💙
